Sysyphus: The Myth Movie Review Part 2

"The future is already here. We just don't know it yet."

Sysyphus

This is the second part of my movie review of Sysyphus. If you’re able to read my first review, I only discussed there all about the villain. This time let’s dig deeper here.

Do you remember when I said that time is not linear but simultaneous? This is what the movie is all about. Time Machine, and the possibility to change the now moment. So, take time and watch it and you will surely receive the same message that I will outline here.

Here are the important messages from the movie that you should take note of:

TIME:

Time is not linear but simultaneous, so everything is happening in this now moment. Meaning, the past, present, and future, are all happening at the same time. Confusing isn’t it? That’s because you are analyzing it. If you’re going to remove yourself from the analytical mind, you will get what I mean.

The only reason why we can see time as linear is because of the changes taking place minute by minute, hour by hour, day by day, and so on. But this has nothing to do with the future or past, but with the present moment where we are making our choices.

Even if the character of Park Shin-hye returned to the past, the decision was still made in her present moment.

In this movie, the author was able to show how one’s choice can change a story. He was able to show that a change in a choice is equivalent to a change of events.

PAST:

In relation to “time”, the past is nothing but a memory stored in our mind that we wish to visit or change because of our regrets. And those regrets are of course, because of the choices we made. We are not able to accept the consequences of our choices, so we are trying to escape the now moment for us to “change” the past, by changing our choices. This is the so-called immigrants’ primary reason for using the Uploader (Time Machine).

However, this can be tricky. Changing the past will then create a domino effect of changes in the now moment that you have. Thus, there may be people, situations, and circumstances that will no longer be associated with you or will definitely vanish from your life.

You are not the person you are now today, if you will change the things you’ve done before.

REGRETS:

The only reason why the characters keep on going back to the past is because of regrets. They cannot fully accept the choices they made in the past and wish to go back and change it somehow. This sounds familiar to you, right?

The main reason why we sometimes hold onto our past is because of regrets. We wish that we knew things before it happen and do better. Because we think that if we do, we wouldn’t be feeling the pain that we have right now in the present moment.

Is it possible though?

Returning to the past in this movie is possible. But, the more they focused on the past, the more that they are repeating the cycle.

Also, the more they focused on the past, the more they took for granted the gift of the present moment. There is an instance here where the character wasn’t able to recognize his own child because of focusing on the past and holding on to his regrets.

What do you need to do then?

Accept it.

FUTURE:

“The future is already here. We just don’t know it yet.”

This is the most famous saying that you will hear from the characters from this movie.

Is it true? Yes.

How?

Ask yourself. What are my choices today?

That is your future.

The reason why they said that the future is here, but we just don’t know it yet is because we don’t know yet what would be our choices and the consequences of it. This is absolutely true. As a result of not knowing what the future holds, we often worry – and again forget the present moment that we have.

JEALOUSY:

The most noticeable emotion in this movie is the jealousy of most of the villain/s to the protagonist. They are too focused on the achievements of the latter and not even seeing that their life situation is actually because of the choices they made.

No one asked them to do something beyond what their soul can accept. But, they did.

And at the end, they blamed it on the person whom they are jealous of.

We have different journeys, we have different life situations, and that is because of the choices we made.

It is only a matter of acceptance.

No blaming.

CHOICES:

The choices the character made determine their life situation.

This is again true not just for the characters in the movie but for all human beings. We always have the power to choose which food to eat, which things to buy, and which road to take. All those choices will have a corresponding consequence that we may or may not be aware of. Thus, we need to be always careful in deciding, and make sure that we can fully accept it.

These choices, as easy as it may seem will then determine the life situation for us.

This present moment where you are right now, ask yourself, what choices did you make to be here?

LOVE:

Another emotion that is very evident here is Love. Not just the love between two people, but love for your family, neighbor, and the entire world.

You will notice several events here of letting go of someone to give them a better life. To give your own life to save the world, and to save the person you love.

Most importantly, to express love to human beings who need it the most, so you can thaw their heart full of hatred, and help them change for the better. Showing love is as easy as showing a little gesture of kindness to someone.

This love is also a domino effect. The person you showed love to today will then give the same love to other human beings in the future. Also, our choices will be more beautiful if we are aligned with the LOVE that we have inside our hearts, and for ourselves.

Overall, I will give this movie a 10/10 review. Why? Because this movie really moved me to the core. The plot of the story is superb and even the messages that it wants to deliver.

For some, this may be just a typical Sci-Fi movie, but this is far more than that. This is the reality of life being portrayed/presented to us in a way that we will be able to understand it.

By separating the past, present, and future (as we always do), they were able to explain that everything is happening at the same time.

What made them change the game?

By being awakened.

They have awakened to the illusion of time.

They have awakened and noticed the pattern of life that they are creating because of their choices.

They cut the cycle.

How did they make it better?

By not focusing on the past version of themselves, and their choices but focusing on the present moment. To bravely change the present moment that eventually changes their past and future.

They changed the game because they realized that they are the creator of their own reality.

Now, as I end this review, ask yourself.

How will you change your game?

How a 6 years old understands Jollibee Foods Corporation

"Inasal is owned by Jollibee" - Awudya Nung nakaraan nagdiscuss siya sa'kin ng business plan niya. Nung kumain naman kami sa Mang Inasal ang sabi naman niya ang Jollibee daw ay owned ng Mang Inasal. Although iba daw yung food like chickenjoy and spaghetti, still si Mang Inasal ay part daw ng Jollibee katulad ng Greenwich. I asked her today kung bakit niya nasabi yun, nabasa niya daw yung sign nakalagay yung Jollibee. And there are other members of Jollibee daw. And to validate that, yes Mang Inasal is owned by Jollibee just like Greenwich, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Red Ribbon and many more within PH and outside PH. Meron ding Chinese Resto ang Jollibee na nasa China. That is why JFC or Jollibee Food Corporation is a strong company. Kapag nag-invest ka sa kanila, hindi ka lang basta nag-invest sa Chickenjoy. Anyway, going back sa anak ko. Nakakatuwa na alam niya yun simply by observing. Mana ka kay Mommy, tahimik lang but observing. I know one day, you will do great things....

Love vs. Attachment

Learn the difference between Attachment and Love. Because clearly, those two things are different from each other, but humans are unconsciously considering them as one. Emotions are simply the fulfillment of one's desire - attachments. Self-fulfilling. Self-aggrandizement. Love is an intense feeling of deep affection and does not necessarily have to be reciprocated. This is why people with the same wounds can connect with each other. They simply misunderstood the spark as "Love". In reality, this is just an attachment. The person whom you can connect with has the same wound as yours so you basically know how to fill each other's bucket. On the other hand, to Love is to see yourself from the other person without the opposite. Without the need to satisfy the desire of your ego. When you no longer seek for that person to satisfy your desire and you now see the person as you, that is love. Thus, it is very important to learn how to love yourself, so...

Why do we suffer?

Photo by omar alnahi: This past few months, I've been very distant and observant of people, and their emotions. I'm trying to understand where the suffering of humans is coming from. I received various answers and most of them are because of outside forces. So instead, I ask within. What is it that makes humans suffer? Is it because of fear? Is it because life is indeed unfair? Or is it because of something deeper yet obvious? Today, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my chest. Something from my childhood keeps on flashing on the screen of my memories and of course, I don't like it. I'm practicing unattachment in everything that comes into my life now, but at this moment, the pain in my chest keeps on getting heavier. So I'm aware that I'm doing something wrong with it. Then, I came across one of Aaron Abke's podcasts, entitled "The Pain and Pleasure Paradox". In this podcast, I suddenly realized that what ...
