Mommies, Study Online for FREE!

Do you know that you can study online while taking care of your little one? Yes, and it's for FREE!

Okay, let's admit it, mommies. We love taking care of our little ones every single day. We love waking up in the morning, preparing their food, doing the laundry, cleaning the entire house, etc. But, at the end of the day, we want to do more. I'm not talking about cleaning your neighbor's house (who would like to do such a thing?) What I mean is, doing something productive for yourself. Like, learning new skills.

Why? Well, why not?

There are times that your inner self will tell you to not stop being a mom, be a Super Mom because you can!

If you have a good internet connection, a laptop/desktop, or even just a smartphone, you can easily go back to school and take the course that you always wanted to take but you never had a chance before. You can select your own course based on your interest and even get a course from Harvard University! Sounds exciting right? But how much would it cost?

If you are worried that it will hurt your monthly budget, forget about the money Mommy, because it's FREE! Everyone loves FREE especially moms like us (*wink*).

So, the question is, how? Well, let me introduce three websites that offer FREE online courses. Let's start with the local online program here in the Philippines.

TESDA ONLINE PROGRAM

A lot of Filipino citizens are now considering TESDA courses, especially for those who cannot afford to go to Universities. Though they offer vocational or technical courses, there is a high employment rate for those who completed a TESDA course. Most students are also considering TESDA because they can easily get a job here or abroad after completing a year or two of studies.

Now, they are introducing a new way for us to complete a course without going every day to an accredited TESDA center. This is what they called e-TESDA.

I personally have an account on their platform and I already completed a course while breastfeeding my little one. See? It's very convenient!

To register, you only need to have a valid email address. Complete your information, and you're all set to select a course. You may check the complete list of courses here: e-TESDA Courses

Unfortunately, they are not offering a certificate of completion online. But, you can always visit the nearest TESDA center and inform them that you would like to take an exam. Once you passed, you will receive a TESDA certificate for completing the course. So make sure to read and understand the modules before taking an exam mommies!

Open2Study

I came across this website while looking for FREE Online Courses. It provides free, specialized short courses across the world, in a range of subject areas. According to their website, Open2Study is backed by Open Universities Australia (OUA), an Australian leader in accredited online education. Because of that, expect a wide range of courses to choose from. They even offer a short course in Astronomy (this got my attention).

I have yet to create an account on this one but it's on my list now. To register, you will need a valid email address and complete the registration form. If you're too lazy to type your details, you may use your social media account to register. Simple as that.

As for the certificate, they will provide you a certificate of completion but you can't use it as an official one (the one that you can show your future employer). Don't worry though, what's important here is that you acquired new knowledge while taking care of your family. You can even share it with them, right?

HarvardX

Last but not least from my list is HarvardX, and from its name, you guess it right. This is the website that offers FREE Online Courses from Harvard University. Ever dreamed to study at Harvard? You can do it now online Mommy!

From Public Speaking, Calculus to Marketing Analytics, they have it. You can check the list of HarvardX Courses and see which one you would like to take. I'm excited to try this one too.

To register, make sure that you have a valid email address. You may also use your social media account like Facebook or Google+ to sign in.

Since it's an online course from Harvard University, I'm pretty sure you want to know how to get a certificate. Well, the good news is they can give you a certificate for completing their course (yay!). However, since not everything is free, you will need to pay for it for $200 USD. Perhaps it may vary depending on the course that you will take but remember, it's a verified certificate. You can't get it elsewhere, especially the knowledge that you acquired from taking the course.

Why am I sharing this?

Because things can change.

Who knows if one day you decide to go back to work? You can always include that online course that you took on your resume, so your future employer will know that you're committed to your chosen profession. That you're enhancing your skills when there's an opportunity.

And most importantly, for yourself.

Being a mom is a lifetime commitment with no time off. Why not do something for yourself that your future self will thank you for? One day, you'll be able to share that knowledge with your kids and they will be more thankful that they have a Super Mom like you.

Good luck with your studies, Mommy!

When there's a will, there's a way.

How a 6 years old understands Jollibee Foods Corporation

"Inasal is owned by Jollibee" - Awudya Nung nakaraan nagdiscuss siya sa'kin ng business plan niya. Nung kumain naman kami sa Mang Inasal ang sabi naman niya ang Jollibee daw ay owned ng Mang Inasal. Although iba daw yung food like chickenjoy and spaghetti, still si Mang Inasal ay part daw ng Jollibee katulad ng Greenwich. I asked her today kung bakit niya nasabi yun, nabasa niya daw yung sign nakalagay yung Jollibee. And there are other members of Jollibee daw. And to validate that, yes Mang Inasal is owned by Jollibee just like Greenwich, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Red Ribbon and many more within PH and outside PH. Meron ding Chinese Resto ang Jollibee na nasa China. That is why JFC or Jollibee Food Corporation is a strong company. Kapag nag-invest ka sa kanila, hindi ka lang basta nag-invest sa Chickenjoy. Anyway, going back sa anak ko. Nakakatuwa na alam niya yun simply by observing. Mana ka kay Mommy, tahimik lang but observing. I know one day, you will do great things....

Love vs. Attachment

Learn the difference between Attachment and Love. Because clearly, those two things are different from each other, but humans are unconsciously considering them as one. Emotions are simply the fulfillment of one's desire - attachments. Self-fulfilling. Self-aggrandizement. Love is an intense feeling of deep affection and does not necessarily have to be reciprocated. This is why people with the same wounds can connect with each other. They simply misunderstood the spark as "Love". In reality, this is just an attachment. The person whom you can connect with has the same wound as yours so you basically know how to fill each other's bucket. On the other hand, to Love is to see yourself from the other person without the opposite. Without the need to satisfy the desire of your ego. When you no longer seek for that person to satisfy your desire and you now see the person as you, that is love. Thus, it is very important to learn how to love yourself, so...

Why do we suffer?

Photo by omar alnahi: This past few months, I've been very distant and observant of people, and their emotions. I'm trying to understand where the suffering of humans is coming from. I received various answers and most of them are because of outside forces. So instead, I ask within. What is it that makes humans suffer? Is it because of fear? Is it because life is indeed unfair? Or is it because of something deeper yet obvious? Today, I woke up with a heavy feeling in my chest. Something from my childhood keeps on flashing on the screen of my memories and of course, I don't like it. I'm practicing unattachment in everything that comes into my life now, but at this moment, the pain in my chest keeps on getting heavier. So I'm aware that I'm doing something wrong with it. Then, I came across one of Aaron Abke's podcasts, entitled "The Pain and Pleasure Paradox". In this podcast, I suddenly realized that what ...
